Congratulations to Stephenie Lumsden as our June 2011 Employee of the Month
Lindley Habilitation Services would like to acknowledge Stephenie Lumsden due to all of her hard work she has exemplified with her consumer. Stephenie has been with her consumer approximately three years. When she started working with him his muscles were tight and he was confined to lying in one position. Over the years Stephenie has worked continuously with him to strengthen his torso and have better trunk control as well has helped him improve fine motor skills. Stephenie is always filling in with extra shifts for the family whenever they need her. She very seldom has data corrections and when she does it’s usually due to a change made per the office. She constantly keeps her supervisor updated every day in regards to any schedule changes and always seeks out what to do before she does it. Stephenie has done an outstanding job to enhance her consumer’s life.
Again Lindley would like to congratulate Stephenie Lumsden our June 2011 Employee of Month.

Congratulations to Kirstyn Scarborough as our April 2011 Employee of the Month
Kirstyn Scarborough has been a dedicated and consistent staff working with her consumer since her first day at Lindley. She’s been creative with addressing her goals, and is constantly seeking ways to promote her consumer’s independence. When there was a lot of transition with staffing her consumer’s hours, Kirstyn went above and beyond by picking up additional shifts and working extra hours to ensure that her consumer had the consistency she needs to be successful. She has been determined to help acclimate her consumer to additional community and peer-oriented activities, and after a few rough weeks of non-compliance, her consumer is now regularly participating and enjoying the agency activities. She’s a strong advocate for her consumer, and never hesitates to contact her supervisor with concerns or questions about activities to run.
Kirstyn’s attitude has been exemplary, and it has rubbed off on not only her consumer, but other team members as well.
Again Lindley would like to congratulate as Kirstyn Scarborough our April 2011 Employee of Month. |

Several administrative staff has commented on what a great job Mr. Ventura is doing. He is always glad to hear such comments. Mr. Ventura is very creative in coming up with different activities for Dominic to participate in. This was made possible by Mr. Ventura and his efforts to make Dominic’s life more meaningful. Mr. Ventura is extremely invested in Dominic’s treatment. He is constantly thinking of new goals and ways to modify the current goals to make them meet Dominic’s needs. Both Dominic and Mr. Ventura always have a smile on their faces. If you ever come across Dominic and Mr. Ventura, stop and chat with them. They are both very entertaining people. Congratulations to Karen Hairston as our January 2011 Employee of the Month
Karen is a very dedicated staff who has been with Lindley since we opened. She has worked with her consumer for over 5 years and the family truly appreciates her willingness to go over and beyond for their child. Through the years she has helped her consumer accomplish many goals. With her help, her consumer has went from needing a lot of assistant with social skills to making eye contact and shaking hands and imitating conversation all upon greeting someone. He now follows a shower schedule independently as well as utilizing a schedule to complete his morning routine, so that his mom doesn’t have to do it all for him at his age (14). He shaves, washes his face, uses his acne treatment, brushes his teeth, wets his comb and does his own hair during that morning routine and he completes it with no assistance. She has worked hard to teach him responsibility of placing items back where they belong and not taking others items. He has learned the concept of personal space and how to say “excuse me” when he has violated that person’s space. Karen has provided support to the family in the way of advocating for their child’s’ education as well. He now is in high school and maneuvers around the school with no assistance and remains in the mainstream classes. She also persuaded the family to allow him to utilize his strongest skill, swimming, to get involved in activities at school. After a short period of time practicing with the swim team, he is now an active member of the Dalton McMichael High School Swim Team. J She is a stickler for completing her data on time with no error and very quick to call and ask questions if she sees something wrong with the data. She returns all calls and completes data corrections in the time given. Karen works along with our activity director in order to set up activities for the Rockingham County area and enjoys every moment of it. With this being said it is now time to recognize Karen for her hard work and dedication to Lindley for all of these years.
Again Lindley would like to congratulate Karen Hairston as our January 2011 Employee of Month. |
Congratulations to Theresa Miles as our December 2010 Employee of the Month.
Theresa has a very person centered approach when it comes to working with her consumer and she works to maximize his independence. She is always the first person to step up and work additional hours if her schedule allows her to do so. Theresa puts in many respite hours during weekends and during the week if her consumer’s parent is out of town. He has confidence in Theresa’s opinion when it comes to choosing new staff and training them. She constantly has a positive attitude when she works with her consumer and communicates well with her CS regarding changes in the schedule and upcoming respite hours that she will be working. Theresa has been a loving caregiver for her consumer for many years. She has in no way been satisfied to simply care for his basic needs like feeding and bathing. She works hard to help her consumer live to his fullest potential by finding stimulating toys and activities. Theresa had her consumer at Lowes Home Improvement store picking out the parts to make a hands on mobile frame that can go over his wheelchair. She is remarkable at keeping him engaged in the community, interacting with many people through trips to the museums and stores where he has made friends. Theresa was already working with her consumer when he lost his mother and during this time Theresa stepped up to the plate working many respite hours as the family adjusted to their new “normal”. The family expresses their gratitude for the loving part she has and will continue to play in our home.
Again, Lindley would like to congratulate Theresa Miles as our December 2010 Employee of Month.

![]() |
Congratulations to Heather Fix as our June 2010 Employee of the Month.
Heather Fix is a hab tech for Lindley Habilitation Services. She took on the responsibility of being the cheerleading coach for Carter Vocational School in August 2009. During the next nine months this group of special needs students which consist of four Lindley consumers were on a whirlwind ride. During the fall she arranged for the cheerleading team to cheer at local football games every Friday night and then for Carter’s basketball team during their season. Heather arranged for the team to perform at halftime during a Wake Forest women’s basketball game. All four consumers participated in numerous winter parades and attended every cheerleading tournament she could find (some were through Special Olympics and others where they were the only special needs team participating). January 2010/Lindsey Moses
|
Lindsey Moses has been with LHS for about a year and her Clinical Supervisor has been consistently impressed with her professionalism, reliability, and great attitude. Last January, Lindsay came on to her case as a new staff to Lindley, but as her supervisor you would have never have guessed she was new to this field. She has had a level-headed, positive, and creative approach in working with her consumer’s behaviors. Lindsay has offered great insight and feedback to the family and team, but also accepts suggestions and feedback very well, as you can always trust that she will implement the feedback you give her the very next time she works. She has been very consistent with working her shifts, and in the recent weeks has almost doubled the hours she works while we search for another staff. I have received comments from her consumer’s family, case manager, and behavior psychologist about how impressed they are with the work she has done. We have seen a drastic reduction in the number of incidents and behaviors with Lindsay’s consumer, and believe that a lot of that has to do with having a strong staff like Lindsay working with her. The case manager states she is undoubtedly one of the strongest staff she has ever observed in 20+ years in the field. She is able to motivate her consumer in many ways, with fun and playful ideas. Lindsey’s easy going and relaxed personality, but also being alert and involved, makes the consumer responds very well to her.
